A Journey With Music
My name is Anjo Ferdinand D. Sarnate and I started singing at 2010. When I was in elementary, I discovered that I loved to sing and perform. I never grew up to a family that knows how to sing but my mother always played music on the radio every morning, my brothers and sisters practiced their instruments in their spare time and occasionally during family reunions and fiestas, there will always be karaoke. I’ve been exposed to music without me realizing it and has become a vital part of my life.

I never expected that grabbing a microphone would change my life forever. I started singing for fun but then I realized that music can do more, it creates a deep emotional bond with the singer and the audience. Every journey has its obstacles. After some time of singing and performing, I discovered a limitation on my voice. A transition period of change and I struggled to find my vocal range.

I know that this is a challenge especially for a starting singer like me. This has affected my confidence to perform and sing to a crowd, I feel embarrassed to let them hear my voice and feel that “I am not good enough”. But I never gave up on my dream. I practiced singing every day, joined the choir and other singing contest, and received help from a lot of people that supported and believed in me. It was a difficult journey indeed but also an opportunity for improvement and change.

The path that I took was rough but I know it’s the right one. There may be obstacles along the way but it made me stronger and braver to face my fears. I’ve met a lot of people with wonderful talents and made friends that turned into family. That is why I never gave up on my dreams. I may have started as an amateur singer but the word “amateur” in latin means “to love”. Singing should always come from the heart; music has power to connect and somehow change one’s world. Cheers to move adventures to come!
